Australian Retail Price Report

Built from PriceRoo's own daily price observations — 4971 products across 123+ Australian retailers, weighted towards electronics, PC hardware and cameras. Live figures, updated daily (latest observation 22/08/2026).

How far apart are Australian retailers on the same product?

This is the figure only cross-retailer tracking can produce: a retailer knows its own price, not the gap to everyone else. Across the 706 products at least three retailers are pricing right now, the gap between the dearest and the cheapest has a median of 32% ($60) .

Method: at least three retailers must have a current price on the same product (three, not two, so a single odd listing cannot invent a gap); the 0 products with a spread above 300% are excluded and counted separately — at that size it is nearly always a bundle or a mismatched variant rather than a real price gap, and quoting them would be the same inflated comparison this report exists to call out. Median, not mean. Independently cross-checked against two months of stored observations (11,534 product-days priced by three or more retailers), which gives a median of 36% — the same finding from a different slice of the data.
